In a move that was probably inevitable, LinkedIn is introducing video advertising as one of its Sponsored Content formats. Although my LinkedIn newsfeed already includes plenty of video, Abhishek Shrivastava, director of product for the Socail network’s Marketing Solutions, explained for advertisers, the only way to incorporate videos was to link to other websites. German spy agency warns of Chinese LinkedIn espionage

China is using fake LinkedIn profiles to gather information on German officials and politicians, the German intelligence agency (BfV) has said. The agency alleges that Chinese intelligence used the networking site to target at least 10,000 Germans, possibly to recruit them as informants. It released a number of fake profiles allegedly used for this purpose. LinkedIn loses legal right to block startup from public profile data

A Judge on Monday ruled that an analytics company has the right to scrape data from LinkedIn . LinkedIn banned in Russia

LinkedIn, a social media platform for professional has been blocked in Russia following failure to comply with personal data storage regulations which came into effect September 2015. Russia’s communications watchdog, Roskomnadzor, has reportedly added the social network to a blacklist of websites making LinkedIn the first major social network to be blocked in Russia . In what is being considered as the biggest tech merger of all time, Microsoft is buying LinkedIn for a whopping $26.2 billion in cash. As the guardian reports, both companies announced the move on Monday.This is Microsoft’s biggest purchase ever and it said that LinkedIn would retain it’s distinct brand, culture and independence.
