Pesapal has this year started processing payments for low cost carriers in Kenya. Jetways Airlines, Silverstone Air and Skyward Express will from now on use Pesapal’s integrated payment system to process Mpesa, Visa, mVisa, MasterCard and American Express payments on their respective websites. This not only gives travellers the freedom to pay conveniently for their flights but also makes it easier for airlines to track payments and traveller flight information.
These airlines join African Express Airways in Kenya and Eagle Air in Uganda showing Pesapal’s growth as a payment processor in the airline and hospitality industry.
Speaking on the new
services, Pesapal CEO Mark Mwongela said, “There are more locals looking
for affordable modes of transport and low-cost airlines are offering a
great alternative for both business and leisure local travellers.
Working with airlines has come naturally for us, having worked in the
hospitality sector for a while. We are delighted to have these airlines
trust us with their payments and we look forward to working with them to
grow the local tourism space.”
As more East Africans travel for both business and leisure, airline operators are looking for affordable, locally based payment solutions that will not only meet their clients needs but also keep their business profitable. Pesapal’s offering not only satisfies this need but with added security features as part of the platform, provides a secure, fast and convenient way for airlines to operate.
Pesapal has become a leader in Airline Fraud Management by deploying Cybersource, the world’s leader in airline and ecommerce fraud verification systems. Cybersource, a Visa company, is able to run every card transaction through over 500 real time fraud tests thereby protecting airlines from card fraud and making it convenient for customers to make bookings by card.
“We have secured PCI PIN and PCI DSS certification in a bid to secure both our business customers and their paying clients from online fraud, which is on the increase as more people in the region transact online. We are confident that the airline industry will benefit too from these efforts as we work together to reduce cases of theft and fraud” added Mr Mwongela.
Travellers will be able to pay both in USD and Kenya Shillings for flights to over 10 different destinations offered by the various carriers. All tickets will be generated immediately with round the clock payment support offered for any hiccups experienced in the booking process. Pesapal will be looking to onboard more airlines as we seek to grow the services that consumers in the region can pay for conveniently.
