CyberXchange Conference And Hackathon To Be Held In Nigeria In November

The Facebook Sponsored CyberXchange Hackathon will be held in Lagos, Nigeria in November. The Hackathon is a competition geared towards finding the best prototypes by starting from scratch to build a workable idea with the help of collaborating colleagues on their teams.

As aptantech reports, during the Hackathon, teams will compete against other teams with less than 2 years experience from all over Nigeria. These participants will have the opportunity to build a hack against a cybersecurity issue. The pre-qualifier registration for the Hackathon closes on August 30th, successful parties will be notified by September 24th and the final competition will run on November 2nd to 3rd in Lagos.Facebook stated that:

“We hope to discover new talents, methods and ideas; and to encourage development in the field of information security. It is our hope that besides discovering gifted hackers and cyber-defenders, the CyberXchange 2016 Hack-a-thon will inspire the development of West Africa’s Information security professionals of the future.”

For the main two day event, some of the speakers include Alex Stamos, the Chief Security Officer for Facebook, Ezekiel Egboye, Director of Operations, Rack Center, among others. The workshops will discuss malware, phishing and preventing techniques and cloud security among other topics.

Founded in 2014, the CyberXchange Conference is an annual event series designed to shine a spotlight on new and emerging technology that is transforming the ways business is conducted in West Africa.
