ICANN picks Beijing to open first engagement center

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will open its first new global engagement office in Beijing, China.

“Engagement with China is not merely an option, we simply must engage at every level or we will lose our legitimacy,” said Fadi Chehade, ICANN CEO and President, in a statement Monday. He was making the announcement during the welcoming session at ICANN’s 46th public meeting in Beijing which will run through the rest of the week. adapted from Zdnet.com
