DCA Digital Academy announces the COVID-19 Universities eHealth Innovation Essay Writing Competition

Almost overnight, remote work has become the new norm, the mainstream. Companies, schools and other institutions around the world are encouraging their staff, students to work from home to prioritize the health and safety of their workforce and communities, from the effects that have resulted from the COVID-19 global pandemic. To help navigate the challenges of studying remotely and be beneficial to the whole global conversation on health and wellness, the DotConnectAfrica (DCA) Digital Academy has announced an essay writing competition for university students to participate and use the special #StayAtHome opportunity to apply their creative minds to contribute to creating solutions.

“The award is intended for our future thinkers across a wide spectrum of fields of study, but with a focus on solutions for health technology and delivery. This award is available to all university students,”

The goal of the essay is to help motivate students to understand the eHealth tech ecosystem in Africa and by extension the development of innovative digital systems for application of e-health systems to improve healthcare delivery. At the same time, it is intended to improve student proposal writing skills in making successful papers.

The essay writing contest, whose theme is ‘eHealth in Africa: Leading innovative technologies for health in Africa‘, will award three cash prizes – a first prize of $250; second prize of $150; and third prize of $100.

The deadline for submitting entries is May 1, 2020.

The essay competition is targeted at students, who must be 18 or older. Each entrant must submit via email only an essay of between 1,500 and 2,500 words based on topics that are related to eHealth in Africa: Leading innovative technologies for health in Africa. They will also be required to submit alongside the essay their personal details such as name, education qualification, contact information.
